The Apple

We all know philosophies
Like Stoicism and Epicureanism
They all say “carpe diem”
Seize the moment…
While you can!
Live life to the fullest
Do what you dream for,
Become what you hope to be,
Good or bad,
That’s up to you,
But it doesn’t matter,
As long as you live it,
As long as you enjoy the ride.
Today, life is a lie,
Materialism has rotten our society
And tough everything seems “oh” so well
Inside the apple is eaten.
“Greedy men did it!” – you may say,
But we let it happen,
We didn’t fought back,
We didn’t change things,
We just stood there and let them eat it all,
Philosophies with centuries old warned us
But we didn’t listen.
We lived our lives as robots,
Not caring about the consequences.
We were greedy too:
We wanted to live happy,
But happiness is a funny word…
Are we truly happy?
Are we ever satisfied?
No, no, no,
A human being is never truly happy,
At least, not in this world,
Not even if he is as rich as he can be.
He’ll always want more,
He’ll always be voracious,
And won’t share his apple with the rest.
Maybe if we started to live simply,
Being honest, pure, enjoying life,
Maybe then we would be happy,
Putting our hearts at the street
And changing things as they are,
Right now, today, right away,
We have no time to waste
The clock is ticking
And tomorrow can be too late.
